Ideal for last minute preparation of clients and colleagues before TV appearances. Free by calling 212-279-4800 Ext. 2281 and telling what your media/presentation training needs will be in the next year. There is NO obligation (even if you have NO media training needs). TV/Media Tips 1. Don't look at the camera unless there is no reporter or host around to speak to and you are specifically told to look at the camera (it is hard to look and sound natural while talking to a machine). 2. Smile slightly all the time on camera, especially when someone else is talking. 3. If you don't smile, you will look like you are frowning and can't wait to get out of there. 4. A slight smile won't really look like a smile; you'll just look confident and relaxed. 5. Blink. If you don't, you'll look like a robot, or worse, Steve Forbes. Speaking/Presentation Tips 1. Don't start speaking until everyone else in the room has stopped speaking. 2. If you are running short on time, don't start speaking faster to "squeeze it all in." You might as well start speaking gibberish because your audience will absorb nothing you say. 3. Try to avoid ice in your drinks. Room temperature liquids or warm drinks are relaxing to the throat. 4. Compliments to speakers are almost worthless unless they are highly specific. 5. Whenever possible, get members of your audience to provide written anonymous critiques and reviews of your speeches. People will be more honest and you will get higher quality critiques.
